"HA'AWI HO'IHI - LOA'A HO'IHI" - GIVE RESPECT, GET RESPECT

Surfing etiquette is essential to know before venturing into the water - some things you learn over time, some things are essential before you even paddle out for the first time.

Good surfing etiquette is a must. It reduces injuries to yourself and others, prevents your board from getting wrecked, & help creates a good vibe in the water.

Think of surfing etiquette as rules of the road; be a good, courteous driver, who already got their license - or be the equivalent of a 9 year old who goes out for a joy ride in Daddy's car.

Basic etiquette -

1. Do not drop in!

Whoever is closer to peak is considered the primary rider. That is, for those who are beginners - simply - if someone else is riding it - do not attempt to try to catch the wave & ride it. Just get out of the way. You turn will come. You will ruin the ride for someone else. -10 karma points.

If you are both paddling & the other rider isn't up yet - the wave belongs to the rider who is closer to the peak. If you aren't the closest to the peak, back off and let the other rider have their fun.
